When I upgraded my projector to the Optoma HD141X projector I was just looking to improve the size of the picture and with the added brightness, maybe be able to start my movies a little earlier. But since the Optoma HD141X is 3D capable, it felt like a waste to not take advantage of it. I had a 3D television, I had a 3D Blu Ray player and some 3D Blu Rays, but my television’s passive 3D glasses wouldn’t work with the active shutter technology on the projector.

I wasn’t sure how often we would use the projector and I didn’t know how often we would watch stuff in 3D (we didn’t use that feature of the TV very often), so I didn’t want to spend a bunch of money. Well, at this point in life I thought I would have learned that the cheapest option is rarely the best, but I guess I am still learning. Through research on various forums, I found some that were recommended on ebay for approximately $10 a pair, so I bought 4 pairs. They shipped directly from China, arrived in about a month and worked great! The movies looked better than I ever good have imagined right in my own backyard! However, my friends and family members found them very uncomfortable to wear (the women complained of pain on the bridge of their noses, the men may have been to macho to say anything), not to mention after only 3 uses, the arms started breaking off of them. So there I was, $40 bucks in, half my glasses were broken and I had come down hard with a 3D movie addiction. Ebay had failed me, so I turned to trusty amazon and stumbled upon ultimate3Dheaven glasses.
Emboldened by my experiences with the cheaper glasses, I spent the extra money, and these glasses have met all my expectations. Right out of the box, I could tell that their construction was far superior. The plastic is coated with a thin silicone that makes them feel silky against your skin. Because the glasses are a little bit heavy, this material keeps the glasses from constantly sliding down your nose.

They feature a rechargeable battery that is charged using a micro-usb cable, is full in approximately 2 hours and will last multiple movies before running out. I haven’t charged them regularly and have yet to have one die during a movie. The power button is on the left arm, flashes blue when the glasses are on and the sensor on the glasses is above the nose piece. The flashing power button is useful when trying to operate them in the dark. The glasses will pair automatically with the projector, you can see the darkness of the lens change to (not to mention the image on the screen go 3D) show that you have a good connection with the projector. I haven’t operated them beyond 20 ft or so from the projector, but I expect so long as line of sight is maintained, you could go much further.
The glasses come with everything you need, a small manual, microfiber cloth, micro-usb cable and storage pouch. The box is made of a heavy cardboard, similar to a cigar box, so the glasses can be stored in the boxes.
The lenses of the glasses have a light tint, that goes much darker when they are in operation. This is standard with these types of glasses, but it makes dark movies difficult to watch. I have been so pleased with these glasses I am up to 8 pairs! I have owned them for over a year and no issues to report, so they get extra points for reliability too.
