Bottom Line: These are reasonably priced 3D glasses that offer superior quality, capability and fit for children and adults with narrow faces.
If you have read this blog before, you know that one of my favorite things to do is to watch 3D movies in my backyard. One of the requirements beyond a 3D capable projector are active shutter 3D glasses. I had originally gone with a cheaper pair of 3D glasses that I had found on ebay, but I had several guests and family members complain about the fit and feel, and later discovered they weren’t very durable. My search led me to the Ultimate 3D Heaven glasses, which I think are the best bargain on the market. Even with as many positive attributes as the 3D Heaven glasses offer, they are designed for adults. A quick search on Amazon led me to the [easyazon_link identifier=”B00LMGGEXS” locale=”US” tag=”backyardmov05-20″]Quantum 3D G9 glasses[/easyazon_link], which are targeted at children, and come in pink and blue. To my daughter’s delight, I got a pair in pink for her.
These glasses are comparably priced to the Ultimate 3D Heaven Glasses and of similar build quality. While the [easyazon_link identifier=”B00CLGLZ1E” locale=”US” tag=”backyardmov05-20″]Ultimate 3D Heaven Glasses[/easyazon_link]are covered with a soft, almost velveteen coating, these glasses have a slick finish. They utilize active shutter technology and are compatible with my Optoma HD141X and should be compatible with projectors from most of the main companies, but I have read reviews claiming issues with both the Epson and BenQ. The glasses recharge fairly quickly and will last through several movies on a single charge.
The glasses come with a storage pouch, micro-usb cable for recharging, and a microfiber cleaning cloth. Unlike the Ultimate 3D Heaven glasses, these glasses do not come with a sturdy box that can be used for storage. The charging port is on the bottom of the left arm, with the on/off switch on the top. I found that they do a good job of syncing with the projector automatically, losing the 3D effect when they move out of line of sight.
During one backyard movie night we were a bit short on 3D glasses for the adults and I had to tap into the kid’s supply. We had a few guests with narrow faces and these glasses were a great fit for them, in fact they found them more comfortable than the other glasses. While these glasses run a little bit smaller, I think that we will be able to get many years of use out of them before the kid’s outgrow them.
Pros:
Rechargeable battery
Comfortable to wear
Durable
Long Battery Life
Cheaper than name brand
Maintains great contact with projector
Cons:
Expensive
Lenses are dark
