So this is a very late review, but we watched The Amazing Spider Man on Blu Ray on 3D. I got a good deal on it off Amazon, we had some family in that included a 7 year old boy, so it fit the bill perfectly. You know the Spiderman story by now, this is just a reboot, but I think I favor it over the Tobey McGuire version. Andrew Garfield (Spidey) is charming, I am a big Emma Stone (Gwen) fan, and who doesn’t like Martin Sheen (Uncle Ben) or Sally Field (Aunt May). Dennis Leary is even the movie!
The storytelling was good and the visuals were great. Now that the sun isn’t going down until later, the 2hr 15min run time seemed a bit long. Like I said, we watched it in 3D, the glasses darken the picture, so it seemed a bit dark to me. Also, the sound was good for action sequences, but some of the dialogue was hard to make out. Who knew Martin Sheen was such a damn low talker. Unlike Deadpool, there wasn’t anything objectionable in the movie and the two moms in the crowd, who aren’t usually big Superhero fans, also talked about how much they enjoyed the movie.
If you passed on this one when it hit theaters because you were “Spidey-ed out”, now is a good time to pick it up cheap.
